Celeb® 250 LED DMX

The Celeb 250 LED boasts technical innovations that make it an ideal professional imaging tool. The fixture produces a soft wraparound light quality and produces color faithfully, beautifully on HD cameras, in the studio or on location. The Celeb 250 is offered in three models, Center Mount, Yoke and Pole-Operation. A honeycomb Louver (90% or 60%) is use to control light spill and snaps into place in the accessory holder.

The Celeb 250’s “All in One” design includes standard DMX in/out ports for cable as well as wireless DMX connectivity
(Lumen Radio®). Additional specifications include universal AC voltage input 100-240vac (1.2 Amps at 120vac) as well as
a 3-Pin XLR for 24vdc operation (6.25A).

Kino Flo’s Celeb 250 LED include 4 menu options, one white, two colors and FX menu. The White menu features include Dimming, Kelvin and Green/Magenta control channels. Dimming range is from .02 to 100 percent without introducing any flicker and can be adjusted in coarse or fine mode by pressing the control knob in/out. The Kelvin range is tunable from 2700K tungsten to 6500K daylight. The Green/Magenta control can be scaled from 0 to 100, where 25 = ¼ correction, 50 = ½ correction and 100 = full correction.

In the Gels/Hue menu, the Kelvin range is extended to 2500K Kelvin to 9900K daylight and a fourth channel is called Gel.
The Gel channel includes Kino Flo presets such as blue & green screen, sodium vapor, mercury vapor as well as over 100
well-known lighting gels. The gel function can be applied to any Kelvin temperature and by pushing the control knob in/out,
the gel will be applied or removed. A fifth channel called Hue Angle (Hue) and sixth channel Saturation (Sat) are also included in the gel menu. These two channels behave similar to a traditional color wheel, where white light is in the center and Hue Angle determines the color along a 360-degree range and Saturation determines how much color is applied. With the Hue Angle and Saturation it is possible to create over 2 million color combinations!

The RGB color menu gives individual control of red, green and blue LED’s. The RGB mode is a great way to work with apps with
predetermined RGB presets or color wheels. RGB menu is also a great feature to dial in specific gel RGB values or when controlling colors from a DMX desk.

The FX (Effects) menu introduced on June 1, 2018 provides access to popular effects such as Candle, Fire, TV, Police, Lightning, Paparazzi, Pulse and Scroll. When on the desired effect, there are several pre-sets as well as control parameters that can be altered. For example, in the Lightning effect there is a “Storm” and “Frankenstein” preset, but it is possible to change Rate to provide additional variation.

  Celeb 250 LED DMX Advantages

Energy Efficiency

The Celeb 250 LED DMX operates on universal AC power or battery power and needs only 1.2A (120VAC) to produce more lumens than a 750W tungsten softlight.  The Celeb LED’s cost savings from low energy and long lamp life continues Kino Flo’s reputation as an environmentally friendly lighting company.

Long LED Life

Rated lifetime is up to 50,000 Hours. With its long LED life, the Celeb’s unique design will maintain its color-correct color temperature.

True Match® Color-Correct

As with all Kino Flo products, the Celeb 250 LED has been specially formulated to match the spectral distribution curves of today’s HD film and video equipment.  The Celeb LED has a high color rendering index of CRI 95.  Even while dimming, the fixture is flicker-free and without color shift.

Heat Management Design

For Kino Flo, heat management is a critical design element of fixture design.  The physical heat or buildup heat within the LED fixture will directly influence the color temperature, lumen performance and life of an LED.

The Celeb LED’s unique design operates coolly, consumes very low energy (1.2A, 120VAC) and is properly ventilated to maintain a stable color temperature.

A well maintained temperature extends the lumen maintenance, color temperature and life of an LED.

Cost Savings

Cost savings attributed to the Celeb 250 LED cover a broad range of concerns:

  • Low energy costs
  • Less heat so low air conditioning expenses

Energy Savings Calculations

With the push for reducing fossil fuel consumption, TV studios are looking at cooler more efficient lighting systems to reduce the costs and save energy.  Part of this process involves generating energy values to determine savings.  One of the most important values is Btu/kWh.

British Thermal Units per Kilowatt Hour

Any light generates a percentage of usable light and the rest in heat.  For example, a standard incandescent light bulb converts only 11 percent of its electrical input into visible light, while the rest is dissipated directly as heat.  There are energy costs involved in cooling the studio environment.  The measure of Btu/kWh is a means of calculating the thermal loads related to operating lighting.

Use the following information to calculate Btu/kWh Watts to Btu:

1 kWh = 3413 Btu/Hr
1 Watt = 3.413 Btu/Hr
3.413 Btu per Watt-hour
